Dodgeball...is Goal-Oriented
Harding Middle School
Jordan’s Family Foundation is proud to (again) be a part of Harding Middle School's Dodgeball program. Mr. Dave Giorgis, Harding's gym teacher, puts together a great program every year for the kids to stay active and healthy.
Personally, I am excited to be working with Mr. Giorgis. He was my elementary school my gym teacher when he first began teaching (Lincoln Elementary School) and all these years later he is now my children's teacher at Harding. Not only has he been our teacher, but he is also helping our charity in our fight against pediatric heart disease. He has always been involved, (yes, Mr; Giorgis, I saw you in the stands at my high school football games), and it is only getting better with time. Thank you, Mr. Giorgis, for taking the time and putting in the effort to make a better, healthier future for all those you come in contact with. ~Corey
Basketball...Playing with a Purpose
Lakewood’s 3rd/4th Grade Basketball League
This basketball season Jordan’s Family Foundation will be supporting the American Heart Association’s Hoops for Heart campaign. Jordan will be coaching her younger brother’s basketball team. The team is helping raise money and awareness in the fight against pediatric heart disease.
Jordan's Family Foundation is happy to be supporting the Lakewood (OH) 3rd/4th Grade Basketball Team, Ranger Donkeys, on their quest to raise money and awareness of pediatric heart disease. This year, Coach Jordan (12 years old) leads her brother's (Dawson, age 10) team in playing with a purpose. Coach Jordan has even encouraged her father, Assistant Coach Corey, to dress the part of a professional basketball coach - Jordan takes this seriously (Corey does the best he can, see photo). Each point the team scores in a game will be tallied and at the end of the year they will be making a donation to the American Heart Association Hoops For Heart campaign in that amount. In addition to money for points, Coach Jordan focuses on the fun associated with the sport. After each game she asks the team if they had fun, if the answer is yes, that is an additional $10 for each "fun game" to the total. Coach Jordan also includes $5 for each victory throughout the season. Both kids and parents are excited to be playing with a purpose and raising money to help a fight heart disease. Good luck Coach Jordan, Dawson and the entire Ranger Donkeys team. Stop in sometime and watch a game - they are fun, exciting and played with a purpose.
Note: The team's Head Coach, Jordan, was born with a bicuspid aortic valve and had open heart surgery at age 7. She is now 12 years old. Dawson was born with Wolf Parkinson's White Syndrome and had surgery when he was 7 years old, he is now 10. They are happy and healthy and helping lead the fight against pediatric heart disease through their efforts every day and in their work with Jordan's Family Foundation.
